Spotify’s beta AI Playlist feature is now rolling out for Premium users in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand after initially arriving in April in the UK and Australia. This feature allows users to create and refine custom playlists using text prompts, with examples provided by Spotify like “Upbeat folk music for a scenic fall road trip” or “2000 era hype jams for the tailgate.” Users can further refine their playlists with prompts like “less peppy” or “hold the Nickelback.” The AI leans on personalization, selecting tracks based on listening habits and responding well to prompts about genre, mood, artists, as well as topics like animals, activities, movie characters, colors, and emojis. Premium subscribers can access AI Playlists in the Spotify mobile app, where they can navigate to Your Library, tap the + button, and choose “AI Playlist” to start generating their custom tracklists using the pop-up chat tool. The feature is being rolled out gradually, so some users may need to wait for it to appear.
