FIFA has partnered with Konami to continue their presence in the video game industry after parting ways with EA. They will host two editions of the FIFAe World Cup on console and mobile versions of eFootball later this year. Qualifying for the tournaments has begun, with champions to be crowned from both platforms. Eighteen FIFA member associations are participating, selected based on esports competitors’ performances and the eFootball player base in each country. FIFA is integrating eFootball into its esports lineup alongside Rocket League and Football Manager, hinting at a possible larger partnership with Konami. While EA Sports FC remains the most popular soccer sim series, eFootball presents a close competitor with a growing player base. It remains unclear if Konami’s title will become FIFA’s official licensed partner, but the positive relationship between the two organizations suggests potential for collaboration. Both even utilize the “e” branding trend.
