The company has shared details about the encryption technology and its objectives in a blog post. The upgrade is already available on desktop and mobile clients, with other clients expected to receive the feature next year. Discord has been transparent about its E2EE protocols, providing ample information publicly on platforms such as GitHub. The company assures users that call quality will not be compromised with the addition of E2EE, although messages will remain unencrypted to adhere to content moderation rules. This level of encryption is becoming more common among various platforms like Signal, WhatsApp, and Zoom, either as an option or a default setting for users.
